What do you get when you add a tattooed bald folk singing music teacher from Boston, a charismatic Abercrombie model with a loud mouth from Long Island, and a quiet introverted angry guy from Detroit? InTension!
Sometime in late January of 2003 I got a phone call from this guy asking Is this the Gus I know from that band Die Screaming and of course I said yes, and thats when it all really began!- Gus Colarusso
The voice on the phone was drummer Justin Doig and he had no idea what he or any of the other guys that formed InTension were in for. Over the next year and a half this band would undergo member changes, girl fights, throwing knives, crazy roommates, bathtub sleeping beauties, car accidents, fat in-bread promoters, trucks running over guitars and bass players, radio DJs losing their minds, and dirty used car salesman. This list could go on, but through it persevered the three kings: Gus Colarusso on lead vocals and bass; Rick Kovac on backing vocals and guitar; and Justin Doig on backing vocals and drums. This is the high-energy hard rock trio known as InTension.
Hailing from sunny Daytona Beach, Florida, InTension has enjoyed a very successful career over the past two years. The guys have been interviewed on 101.1 WJRR Native Noise in Orlando, Fl, 95.7 WHOG Metal til Midnight and The Scene in Daytona Beach, Fl. The band has been featured in Thats Entertainment Magazine, The Daytona Beach News Journal, Whats Happening Daytona.com, S.P.E.R.M. magazine, and Emergenza.com. InTension has gone onto two successful national tours stopping in major U.S. cities like Los Angeles, CA., San Francisco, CA., Austin, TX. Detroit, MI., Little Rock, AR., and Youngstown, OH. In June 2005 InTension won best drummer, best bass player, second best guitarist, and overall band at the Emergenza Orlando final. InTension also came in Second place at the World Battle of the Bands Los Angeles Final held in late 2005. This summer InTension will be featured in a television commercial for the Daytona Beach News Journal and will be headed out on a short tour to the Northeast. The band also has plans to release a live DVD recorded at the Shamrock in Daytona Beach.
