E330 is an unexpected electronic improvisation duo. The founders core Frederic Matuszek a designer, and pol.dub a banking and finance manager, are actually working and living in Paris. They explain, "Our passion is improvisation in electronic music. We favour direct communication. We wish to convey emotions and accidental collisions with a real time audio process, then build a unique audio stream which is played only once, ever".
The tracks here are excerpts from live sessions. They are fragments of early E330 recorded live sessions from different periods. The tapes contain oddly melodic pieces as well as cut up, samples and field recordings set in real time. These improvised pieces are recorded straight to hard disk, without any post process arrangement, remixing or remastering.
What if music was a random picture of the soul? A picture which captures fleeting moments, never the same, always in motion? E330 strives to reflect each passing moment in sound, as it happens, without anticipating or preparing for future moments.
Frederic Matuszek says, "E330 embraces process in motion. An approach based on experiencing the ephemeral and the unique". Then he adds, "It is exciting to join pol.dub in such an unexpected audio conversation and to build a music piece without any pre-established structure".
pol.dub specifies, "There are infinite possibilities especially when things don’t exactly do what you expect. So, you create complex relationships in this way."
Using MAX-MSP and real time computer-based audio processing, E330 is implementing a live performance that is fluid and embraces emerging practices in electronic music.
