Elsa and Margarita Guzman (sisters) born and raised in East Los Angeles California. Parents, Maria Guadalupe and Octaviano Guzman both born in Michoacan Mexico, migrated to California to work.Elsa Guzman(1ra voz) had an ear for music since the age of three. She would always memorize lyrics and make up dance routines for her mother. Elsa was a very quiet girl that did not know how to express herself due to family issues. She usually stood close to her parents and sister. Family members and surrounding people always put her down and classified her as "ugly" and never good enough. She says she was like the "outcast of the family but, hey if it dont kill you it will only make you stronger." Her self esteem was always very low due to this. She was somewhat of a loner, so she would use up her time writing songs and pretending to be performing for a live audience.Elsa attended Garfield High School, South Gate High School, Schurr High School, Monterey Continuation and Mujeres Y Hombres Nobles. She moved around from school to school due to alot of teasing she encountered since an early age. Her only and true friend was always her sister. This helped her gain self esteem and bring out her true personality. Elsa struggled alot with leaving the past in the past and when she dealt with these issues she became known for a caring, noble and warm hearted leader. Her producer Gloria Espana refers to her as "la rebelde." Maybe she is refered to as a rebel due to her determined attitude, wild hair and fashion style.Margarita Guzman (2nda voz) and baby of the two was always very loved by family and friends. She always had a lot of confidence in her self due to everyone calling her "la bonita." She was recognized for her beauty and funny attitude. Margarita AKA Maggie was very popular. She never had problems making friends but always kept her sister in a special place.Maggie attended both East Los Angeles rival high schools Garfield and Roosevelt. She eventualy graduated from Garfield High School. Maggie never had any passion for music or any interest in pursuing a music career but with her "pa delante" attitude she has been able to adapt to her new passion of music. Music has been very important to her for the past five years and has been quoted to say "wow, what have I been missing out on music is great my sister wasn't crazy after all."This sister team has always been and is very close to each other. They are not only sisters but best friends as well. They would always memorize songs that had to do with duo's, like Snoop Dogs album Doggy Style, Vicente Fernandez and Alejandro Fernandez, Las Jilgerias and more. They are very similar in many ways but also very different. They both like the color red, starbucks caramel frapachino, cats, King Taco's al pastor, cant live without floss, Lincoln Navigators, they both came out in La Nena Sexy Video, did commercials for el Parral, graduated from same High School and College and they love La Seleccion Mexicana. They are also different. Elsa Loves hugs, kisses, cries, listens, giving presents, throwin parties, looking out for her little sister, anything pink, the movie the notebook, walking and dancing. While Maggie loves receving gifts, her, her, her, its all about her, anything baby blue, hates crying, hates it when her sister cries, loves the movie blow, I Love Lucy, loves animals, weight training, running, does not like to hear problems, loves pizza, dorritos and dark soda, but loves her self even more.They are reffered to as "sugar and spice." Elsa being Sugar Maggie being spice.One day after coming home from a trip Elsa commented to Maggie that she was thinking of starting a music career. Maggie looked at her sister and busted out in laughter when Elsa explained she wanted to form a duo with her. When Maggie finally stopped laughing and recongnized that her sister was not playing she agreed to try it out. Maggie has said for her sister to come to her senses and forget this whole idea. Maggie playing around with one of her many friends said and what are they going to call us "Las Mil Amores." This actaully sounded like a good idea to Elsa and they both agreed to keep it.Las Mil Amores was officially formed on February 2002. They thought that this was going to be an easy trip but they were wrong. They began recording demo tapes with a karaoke machine and sending them out to different record producers. They recived several responses and they usually got the same answer, they needed practice. Finally one response made diffrences that lead them to find a vocalization teacher. They tried several teachers until finally Pedro Bader and record producer Gloria Espana took interest in them.The girls struggled a lot two voices together. They performed at El Parral Night Club in South Gate, Mi Hacienda de Pico Rivera, the Bright Spot and several other locations as amatures. Finally on August 18, 2006 the girls got signed by ECB records.There first album entitled Yo Tengo Que Aser El Amor Contigo that includes Banda, Norteno, Hip-Hop and R&B, two of the songs written by Elsa will be released in 2008.
