IF POSSIBLE USE HEADPHONES WHEN VIEWING VIDEO MATERIAL OR CONNECT YOUR COMPUTER TO QUITE DECENT SOUND SYSTEMS.

This channel is dedicated to personal Handsonic (Roland HPD-15) ways of playing and displays extracts of a forthcoming audiovisual tutorial on advanced techniques on this instrument. So this channel is a kind of draft.

All the videos uploaded here are different from the performances shown on the Odiolorgnette channel (devoted to sound esthetics and experimental studies developped around the Handsonic).

This Handsonic1 channel is a non exhaustive guide, purely technical, focusing only on hands positions and fingering works.

Handsonic adapted technics – Cutting (close-up)

Applying the techniques shown in previous parts (videos1-5 of Turntable adapted technics), using Smith's "pinky technique" in a scratching oriented way of playing.

The routines obtained here were partly inspired -- in their content and esthetic -- by turntablist Qbert. Although nothing can rival real vinyl manipulation by experts, a personal adaptation of these techniques on Handsonic makes imagine new ways in real time electronics.

Hereafter: Scratching adapted technics on Handsonic

Applying the techniques shown in previous parts (videos1-5 of Turntable adapted technics), using Smith's "pinky technique" in a scratching oriented way of playing. The routines obtained here were partly inspired -- in their content and esthetic -- by turntablist Qbert. Although nothing can rival real vinyl manipulation by experts, a personal adaptation of these techniques on Handsonic makes imagine new ways in real time electronics.

Hereafter: Turntable adapted technics on Handsonic (n°5)

A synthesis of techniques shown in previous parts (videos1-4), always using Smith's "pinky technique" in a break-beat oriented playing. The routines obtained here were partly inspired -- in their content and esthetic -- by turntablist Mix Master Mike. Although nothing can rival real vinyl manipulation by experts, a personal adaptation of these techniques on Handsonic makes imagine new ways in real time electronics.

Hereafter: Turntable adapted technics on Handsonic (n°2)

Applying Smith's "pinky technique'' to both hands on the 2 ribbons (see previous video for basis on this way of playing). This combination enables to get a melting of vinyl mixing, scratching (from 3:15) and beat juggling simulation. The routines obtained here were partly inspired -- in their content and esthetic -- by turntablists like Qbert and D-styles. Although nothing can rival real vinyl manipulation by experts, a personal adaptation of these techniques on Handsonic makes imagine new ways in real time electronics.
