About Me

I was born in Trenton, Missouri and have lived most of my life in different parts of this state minus time spent in the Army in which I was fortunate enough to live for a time in Germany (good beer) Colorado (not bad beer) and Iowa (best steak in the world at Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City). I like Missouri. Anything you want to do.. You can just about find it here.I have a beautiful and committed wife (to me believe it or not), two kids (one of each) who make me proud and make me laugh and a little Shi Tzu named Nala. Always thought I'd have a Lab, but the little fur ball is pretty cool too. I am a strong supporter of our Nation and of our Troops. I realize the freedoms we enjoy came with a great sacrifice on behalf of others and they deserve our respect and gratitude. If you come to our house, you will see Old Glory waving in the front yard. If the National Anthem is being played, you can bet I'll be standing at attention and my hat will be off. It is the least we can do.I believe in God, that he sent his Son to save us from our sins and that there is a Heaven and a Hell. I believe I will be in that first lot. I am a Christian although sometimes not as good a one as I should be. A work in progress. I have read the Bible from front to back and am not worried about the end of times. The last chapter says we win.I believe it is an individual right to keep and bear arms. We have guns at our house. We are not whacked out and part of a crazy militia or belong to a branch or compound. We just enjoy the sport of it. Some people golf. We shoot. Simple. I enjoy nature. Hunting, fishing, canoeing and just being outdoors. I would love to be in the paddling race on the Missouri river some day. 340 miles from KC to St Louis. I love music of all kinds. Country would be my favorite with 80's rock coming in a close second. I kept my parachute pants around until they wouldn't fit anymore. Ice cream is my kryptonite. I love the stuff, just can't eat it like I used to. Even with exercise, it's all I can do to stay 20 pounds overweight. I really enjoy writing songs. Some say I do a fair job at it. I might try my hand at doing it for a living but worry that might take away the joy. That, and the fact that I am a huge procrastinator. I'm not lazy at all, it does however take a bit of prodding to get me in gear. My favorites things are time with my family, a warm fire with a guitar or good book and a lake when the water is like glass and the fish are hungry. Before I die, I think I would like to ride a bull (a small one maybe) and learn to play chess. My needs are simple. If I have something you need just ask and I will more than likely loan it to you. If I can, I will lend a helping hand to someone in need. I believe in good and evil. Although most of the news we read is all about the evil, I still hold out that there is a silent majority of people out there with good hearts. I gravitate towards funny people who can make me laugh. To me, laughter is the best medicine for anything.I enjoy good conversation, a game of Scrabble or Pictionary (I can kick your butt in both) with friends and a little red wine. I like trucks and old muscle cars. Guitars and guns. And just sitting around and thinking (what if sloths were fast?). If you get to Kearney, come by for a visit. Maybe we can go to Gino's (great Italian) or LaFuente's (best cheese dip) and hang out.Enough about me…. Thanks for reading….. God Bless and keep laughing! Matt
