Johnny Cox

About Me

Born in Hackney in 1983 and raised in North London, Johnny Cox grew up listening to jazz and blues. He developed a passion for the electric bass as a young child and made the natural progression on to jazz double bass in his mid-teens. He graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2005 where he studied under the virtuoso Hungarian bass player Zoltan Dekany and worked with the legendary South African guitarist Lucky Ranku among others. These days he is to be found working and recording with artists such as the Mike Hobart Quartet and the renowned Chapman Stick player, Jim Lampi. Johnny is currently living and working as a session musician and music teacher in North London.
