BIOGRAPHY
From the tender age of 10, Errol Farquah enjoyed a misspent youth fashioning sweet abstract noises in the corner of his tiny blue bedroom. Every waking hour was spent overdubbing intricate guitar layers over the inhuman drum patterns of his Roland Dr Rhythm drum machine. Along with a wall of hiss & white noise, hundreds of songs were documented on a bastardized double cassette deck. Although substandard in sound quality, these early recordings were the launch pad for Errol’s future production work.
In year 12, Errol had teachers questioning his sobriety when his first band, Dirt Level performed a death metal rendition of the school anthem at morning assembly. This far from traditional interpretation of the song caught the attention of schoolmate, Michael Mavromatis. Their common love of Mr Bungle and German beer drinking songs moved them to form the experimental duo,Jahlello. Needless to say, neither of them were surprised when this obscure incarnation failed to crack the commercial market. Armed with an arsenal of "what NOT to do’s" after a stint with psychedelic rock outfit,ONE, Errol settled into his most becoming role to date: guitarist/vocalist with Sydney 5 piece National Pornographic.
A force merging killer rock riffs with loaded grooves, National Pornographic hit with precise intensity, leaving the listener no choice but to be consumed by their infectious juggernaut. Not bound by genres, NP fused electronic music sensibilities into a Molotov cocktail of punk, funk, and scratch, pioneering a style of their very own. In between festivals, appearing in Coca-Cola commercials and modeling for American porn star, Jenna Jameson, NP set up their own label, National Pornographic Records and went on to play in excess of 500 shows in 5 years.
Ever erratic and ever curious, Errol Farquah reluctantly parted with National Pornographic at the beginning of 2007 to tour Europe and take his organized noise abroad. After living and working on organic farms in the lush countryside of Italy (I know!), Errol is now living in London, where he is currently writing/recording his debut solo album - an Electronic/Metal/Death-Hop hybrid: Don't Get DEAD!
