Yes I'm in a band , and yes this is the page for my work as a solo artist. Why not play all these songs in the band? A lot of them don't match the style of The Speeding Trees. Also, the songs we play as a band are the songs we write as a band. As in, we all have a part in the composition. The songs put out as "David J Murphy" songs have only one composer.
Styles vary in intensity, from acoustic numbers to full on heavy metal. Not all of them are here, necessarily.
A recent project of mine which isn't really a "band" or a "solo artist" is work for a movie called Wormtooth Nation , created by my friends Geoff Boothby and Cullen Thomas.
UPDATE! Wormtooth Nation was nominated for 2 Webby Awards: Best Sound Design, and Student. It also won the Golden Eddie (first place) in the Studen Long-Form category at the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival here in Iowa.
As a student film it is extremely sophisticated and well done, and currently being presented episodically on the movie's official site as well as YouTube, Vimeo, and Google Video. It's a dark and thrilling steampunk tale about an underground city and the humanity within. Find a link and share it! Rip the video and seed a torrent! Hell, scratch the thing to VHS tape if you have to! It's free, it's awesome, and we want EVERYONE to see it. I had the high privelage of scoring and composing all music for the film (except a surprise dance number by Ian Fry). Full soundtrack available from mini-store below!
