Leanne

I am a first rate version of myself.

About Me

I will finally be graduating college in June and then I will be entering the teaching credential program at San Jose State. My life is pretty hectic at the moment; I am taking 4 English classes and a Philosophy of Science class. Just trying to pack it all in and get done! I’m a pretty mellow person; I like to have fun, but I am also a home body and enjoy just hanging out chillin’ with my boyfriend and my family. Darius and I will be celebrating 6 years this December, the thought of that constantly blows me away. We’ve had our trials and tribulations, but everything we’ve been through has been worth it and has made me a better and stronger person.I am absolutely obsessed with American Sign Language and the Deaf culture. I have been practicing for 8 years and plan on getting my interpreting credential. I plan on learning Spanish and Farsi one day, but unfortunately those have to be placed on the back burner for now.I have been working with developmentally disabled people for about a year now and it is the most rewarding job I have ever had. It can be challenging at times, but I’d like to think I am a fairly patient person; I did grow up with 8 siblings!

My Interests

I love painting and doodling, although I’m not very good at either. I’m passionate about everything organic and have a deep interest in alternative medicine. I love hanging out with my family and when I’m not with them you’ll find me with Darius or some of my close friends. I have 6 brothers and 2 sisters, it's a long story, don't ask, just take it in. I am very social, but love time for myself to sit back and think about life. I am extremely liberal and believe in equality for all, although, however ironic it sounds, I am pro-death penalty in some cases (if you really want to know my stance you can talk to me personally because I don’t feel like explaining it all here). I am cautious about my impact on the environment and try to do my part to keep our Earth a healthy planet.

I'd like to meet:

I’d love to meet some of my favorite poets like William Blake, Sylvia Plath and Emily Dickinson, unfortunately they are all dead.

Music:

System of a Down is still one of my favorite bands. Darius and I are going to watch Serj (the lead singer of SOAD) perform his new stuff this month. I'm into most music. I like classical, rock, hip-hop, country, reggae, you name it. For all my deaf friends and hearing friends who know asl, and for all those just curious: .."425" height="350" ..

Movies:

I am a huge Jim Carey fan so anything with him in it. I also like Will Ferral. I love thought provoking documentaries. Walmart, the high cost of low price is a new one that I have just watched. Never shop at WalMart! Ok I have shopped at Walmart since the movie...BUT only once!

Television:

I’m hooked on Hero’s and CSI: Las Vegas. I’m also obsessed with I Love NY, Rock of Love and all those fun reality shows. I grew up on the classics, Simpsons, Wheel of Forune...TV was a great babysitter and I turned out fine, lol.

Books:

Some of my all time favorite books are Beloved, by Toni Morrison and Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger. I have a new fav, it is The Time Travelers Wife, that book is so good. I just read an eye opening book called My Forbidden Face, by Latifa (a pseudonym). It is about this young girl growing up in Afghanistan when the Taliban takes over Kabul, the city she lives in. I did get to meet the author of one of my other favorite books, The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseni. Now they are turning the story into a major motion picture.

Heroes:

Take the quiz:
Which Goonie r u?

Mikey
You are very adventurous. You practically lead the Goonies, and are very brave. Your hero is a dead pirate who inspires you to be yourself.
