*********************Back in the mid-70s, a chance visit to a music session at the Central Hotel (Thie Bouyr) in Peel brought Peddyr into contact with Manks traditional music for the first time. "Likened to the road to Damascus for the young and impressionable Peddyr", he was inspired to take up an instrument and start learning Manks Gaelic. Peddyr made this venue his regular port of call on a Saturday night and cut his teeth on Manks trad at the early stages of the revival.
*********************He's never looked back since that chance encounter and has gone on to perform at many feillaghyn (festivals) as cooishyn (and functions) throughout the Celtic nations and beyond including Brittany, Galicia and even England! *********************"Once I’d delved into the music and tongue of my Manks heritage, I found that she fit like a glove - a glove which I still wear firmly today."

Influences: Over the years, it would be fair to say that my influences have come mainly form Irish bands such as the Bothy Band, Planxty, Stocktons Wings, Clannad, Moving Hearts and some of the individuals from within those bands. Also, Breton music. I'm always keen to get a trip to Brittany whenever I can to soak up the fantastic atmosphere, music and crepes at a FEST-NOZ!I'm also very fortunate in having had the chance of being tutored by Mary Bergin, Miko Russell and Dan O' Dowd when they visited the Island many years ago!
*********************
Almost everyone I have come into musical contact with has influenced me in some way. I continue to be inspired and influenced by many of today’s musicians - young and old – it’s a great musical world we live in!
*********************
It must be said also that the environment - landscapes, seascape and people who live in them as well as friends are also a major source of inspiration and influence.

In addition to the above I studied music to degree level gaining a combined honours BA in Music & Music Technology
