About Me

I am a 22 year old singer, I live in Romania, but my nationality is Hungarian. I've been classically trained in Tirgu Mures, my hometown, in the local Arts School. I play the piano and for four years I studied bel-canto. I recently finished my studies in Communication and Public Relations, but I'm also attending Music Pedagogy courses (3rd year). For one year I've attended the local University of Dramatic Arts and as a consequence I had the opportunity to play in the musical Hair performed by local actors. I've been and still am the member of several local choirs. With them I performed the Alto Solo parts of Vivaldi's Introduzione et Gloria and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater - please note that I'm a mezzo-soprano, but in a small town like mine is it’s quite hard to find alto singers. For a year (2006-'07) I've been the lead singer of the Transylvanian band Yesterdays, which released its first album, Moonlit Garden, in the October of 2006. Bogáti-Bokor Ákos, the leader of the band was the very first musician who helped me find my path in the world of non-classical singing. The band's next album is on its way; do visit their website www.yesterdays.hu. Recently I have been kindly invited to work on a Rega Project with chief arranger and musician: Gary Bennett. The work in England with Gary has been a wonderful experience; he managed to bring out the best of me, achievements that I never knew I was capable of. Special thanks to David Speight and Roy Gandy for taking really good care of me. The year of 2008 began with new opportunities, since a local band called Jazz4Fun asked me to participate in their work. Of course I said yes, and now they are guiding me through the paths of jazz-singing. You see, I'm really lucky to be surrounded by all these talented and selfless musicians, because without their help I wouldn't be able to evolve musically.

My Interests

Music:

Influences: My mother used to sing me lullabies when I was a baby. Later on she was the one who introduced me the mysterious world of music and she was also the one who guided me all through these years. As a child I listened to the music mother used to listen to. MARGARETA PÎSLARU was one of her favorite singers and in consequence she had the first and greatest impression on me. She made me aspire for a musical career. EUSEBIU APOSTOLACHE and his son ZENO APOSTOLACHE also had a great influence on me - they both made me love music, they taught me what quality music is and they helped me understand it. During school I was very fortunate to learn with the best teachers of the region. OROSZ SZABÓ EDIT was and still is my vocal coach. She used to be a jazz singer, now she is an internationally known teacher and the best in Transylvania. She taught me the basics of bell-canto, now she helps me experience all sorts of musical genres, for now I'm searching for the one that fits me best. Because jazz and alternative music is what attracts me the most, my influences are (in alphabetical order):JULIE ANDREWS, BJÖRK, BORAGO, DORIS DAY, TINA DICO, MARIANNE FAITHFULL, FÁBIÁN JULIANNA, ELLA FITZGERALD, JUDY GARLAND, BILLIE HOLIDAY, HOOVERPHONIC, NATALIE IMBRUGLIA, NORAH JONES, KATIE MELUA, MARILYN MONROE, ALANIS MORISETTE, EDITH PIAF, SARAH VAUGHAN and many more...
Sounds Like: ... I'm sure I'm never going to sound like Ella Fitzgerald... other than that... who knows...
