About Me

I'm scared of the dark but I like being scared. I like mexican candy--the kind that makes you sick afterwards, you know the ones shaped like a mango and covered with chili powder. I've heard it has a high lead content but I'm not worried. I also like the radio program "Coast to Coast" either with Art Bell or George Noory. It's a show with guests who like to talk about the paranormal, aliens, big foot, remote viewing, and all sorts of bizarre topics. Check it out, in S. CA it's on weeknights 10pm on KFI AM 640. I like to read books, magazines, product labels. I'm the best PSP Lumines player in the world. It's a fact. I'm also very gifted in playing Tetris. None of these talents will secure me a high paying job but I've come to peace with that. I'm also a news junkie and read/ listen multiple times a day. I'm also slightly obessessed with the weather. I'm always hoping for thunderstorms but then I think of the poor homeless people being cold. I think I like cold weather so much because it justifies my laziness. I'm really getting into soup these days. Corn Chowder+rainy day+good book= heaven. Now I'm hungry and soup sounds good. Bottom line is I'm a pretty simple girl. I'm friendly, maybe a little strange, and I'll grow on you. Like a barnacle.

Television:

I really haven't watched tv for about forever not because of some lame philosophical reason but because I don't have cable and my tv is from the 70's--but when I do I like these shows: M.A.S.H (one of my most favorite shows of all time-I seriously don't get sick of the reruns), Chapelle Show, Ali G, SNL, Simpsons,Elimadate, South Park, West Wing, Cosby show reruns, Three's Company ( I learned to speak english from this show), the Office (UK version), Allo Allo, Eastenders (that show is so depressing it actually makes you feel like your life ain't so bad) Daily Show, Conan, Frontline, NOVA, History

Books:

Just finished reading:THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING by Milan Kundera: I liked it. It's a pretty ambitious book, the author goes off on many philosophical tangents yet still manages to tie it into the main story line. If you've read it tell me what you think.RUNNING WITH SCISSORS by Augsten Burroughs: (Memoir) Entertaining read. If you like David Sedaris I think you'll find this book amusing. Not fantastic but entertaining.Currently reading:INTO AFRICA: THE EPIC ADVENTURES OF STANLEY AND LIVINGSTONE by Martin Dugard: (non-fiction) This is a great read so far, it's about the correspondent Stanley searching for a reportedly missing Livingstone in Africa while on a mission to find the source of the Nile. Hence the quote " Doctor Livingstone, I presume? " I really enjoy historical, action, adventure, survival books so I find this one really interesting.AMSTERDAM By Ian McEwan (fiction): I just started reading this one. I really enjoyed his book "The Cement Garden" so I thought I'd give this a go. I've heard his book "Atonement" is pretty good, have you read it? Let me know.Short Stories Vol. I by Guy De Maupassant: Some of his stories are shit but I really love his scary ones. He has a knack for eerie details. Did I spell eerie right?A WALK TO REMEMBER by Nicholas Sparks: Remember I'm a girl. I need this shit.THE WORST JOURNEY IN THE WORLD by Apsley Cherry-Garrard (non-fiction). I learned of this book by the last book I read by Sir Ranulph Fiennes called "Race to the Pole"--no it's not about strippers, it's about the race to the S. Pole between Scott and Amundsen. This book was amazing. It's filled with adventure, survival, drive and passion. It's rare that a book will actually make me cry but at times I actually got a bit choked up. The author does such a great job that you actually feel cold while reading. Long story longer, Apsley-Cherry was a part of the team and wrote his account of the journey. I'll tell ya if it's good after I'm done. So far so great.
