I am here for Friends

About Me

i just worked extremely late. i just got home. it's around 3:30 am. on the way to work i got distracted at two different bookstores and ended up purchasing many books, one of which was next to a book i intended to buy. the unintended purchase was a book about vampires in new orleans, which i have already read. after working for some hours i called a cab to take me home. the last time i pulled an all-nighter like this, i called desoto cab and the cabbie did not speak english, but played a lot of david bowie from his nonipod mp3 player. when it got around to life on mars?, i felt a little bit like crying because it was quite perfect, and we had a conversation about bowie that transcended the language barrier. tonight i called desoto again and when the cab came, i climbed inside and sat down to find myself confronted with two of the driver: one in the driver's seat and one affixed to the back of the passenger's seat informing me that we were listening to his new cd, available for sale at the final destination of my choosing. he played a sting song he'd recorded at a place called yoshi's with a full choir. he sang along to the song and annotated it during the vocal breaks. it was about a vampire on bourbon street. do i need to mention that i spent the weekend watching a scanner darkly and eating vietnamese food with an acquaintance named yoshi?
