Beginning as a pastime, rapping and making beats was just something to do on the computer; JayKeyz began rapping at 12 years of age and now at 20 has been doing it for over 8 years. Not taking it seriously in the early days he modeled his music after other influential Texas southern rappers like DSR/Slim Thug/Paul Wall and UGK, incorporating clever punch lines and low blows. At 18, while recording “I KNOW THEY WANNA F*** ME” and “CHEAP MUSIK” a mix tape, JayKeyz discovered the power of digital music production and collaborating with other local artists. He has developed his own style and is taking all of his influences to the next level, creating something to bump to in contrast to all the ‘Simon Says’ music out on the radio today. Now, working with other local artists such as Nick&Nick, Budgy, Dirty White and DJ Phatboy, Jay has recorded local Internet hits such as “BALLIN’ IN THA’ MIX”, ”RYDA MUSIK” and “DALLAS” [anthem]. Recently he was featured at Showcase Sunday at Club 2505 for his hit “LETZ GET THROWED” ft. Dirty White. Keyz. He is well on his way to building strong local Hip-Hop roots, a fan base in his native Dallas area and is ready to blow up in the Local Hip-Hop Scene.
