DJ Qash

Alain, a.k.a, DJ Qash was born in 1976 in Portugal, but his family roots lie in Mozambique. He discovered his affinity for Disco, Funk, R ‘n’ B and Hip Hop music already at the age of ten. It was also around this time that he started breakdancing, forming a crew with some friends. At a gig that he and his crew were performing in a club in Dudelange, he saw a DJ doing a show on the turntables. At that moment, he realized what he waned to be…it was the beginning of a hip-hop adventure. At 14 he started to play in this club from 9pm to 11pm, where the DJ showed him the basics of mixing. His passion for turntabling kept on growing and Qash kept on developing his turntable skills. By the early 90s , Qash had performed at several private parties, bars, streetball contests, festivals and clubs….anything that would allow him to DJ in front of crowds. In 1995, he joined a young Hip Hop crew called H.L.M, which later became known as M.Q.P. and featured pioneering Luxembourg MCs: Black Smurf, Habeel Le Rapace, L’Individu, Manotas and Le Suspect. The same year he won one of the first DJ Battle Contests in Luxembourg, at the Skate Park Hollerich. He won 2nd place at the DJ Battle CLASH 2007 in Luxembourg. Starting out on pirate radio stations, Qash also had various hip-hop shows on Radio Diddeleng and Radio ARA. Over the years, Qash has played local warm-up gigs for numerous international artists, including Starflam, Cut Killer, DJ Abdel, Fonky Family, Saian Super Crew, DMX, Method Man, DJ Kost, DJ Q-Bert, T.O.K., Cecile, Original U-Man, A-Trak, NTM, DJ Antar, DJ Superjam,DJ Doc Tone, DJ Daddy K, Magic System, Stereo MCs, DJ Premier, Gang Starr, Dynamax, Killa Tactics, DJ Crazee B, Don Choa, TTC, DJ Soon… In addition, Qash has collaborated with or DJed for Loose Body Parts, Willysun a.ka. Kalo de 78, Bossman Crew and Nanni K. Together with MC Willysun, Qash also produced 2 tracks for the soundtrack to the Luxembourgish short film “Wating Room”. Besides regularly releasing mixtapes and doing remixes, DJ Qash keeps rocking the crowds all over Europe by mixing in clubs or scratching it up at DJ battles to make you FEEL THE VIBE
