After they quit their old band John Wayne Shot Me, siblings Marieke and Thijs put their instruments in the attic to enjoy their well-earned retirement after nearly a decade of indierocknroll adventures all over Europe. The peace and quietness in their deserted, rural hometown Ammerzoden was not going to last though. When an enigmatic French cartoonist calling herself Miss Lonely Heart wrote Thijs and Marieke and asked them to write some songs for the soundtrack of her new comic book about a mysterious air balloon journey, they could not refuse. Especially not since the wonderful american band The Ian Fays were the other band to be involved in this soundtrack.
Together with their friendly robot Emilio, they locked themselves up in the safe of a Farmers Capital Bank building that closed its doors many years ago to work on some nicely twisted sing-a-long indiepop tunes about animals, love, technology, friendship, bowling and monsters. They decided to call themselves "the usa" and quickly made a trip to Nürnberg where their friend Wuschi Ebert recorded the songs for the soundtrack. Wuschi did a great job, as could be expected from a guy who worked with many great bands before, like the green apple sea and the robocop kraus. Another friend, the amazing Alex Lindbäck, of Saint Thomas, Seven Doors Hotel and Ping, came over all the way from Norway and played drums.
Early 2008 Noisedeluxe Records will release the comic book + 7" vinyl soundtrack and this is the sign for Marieke, Thijs and Emilio to pack their gear in their van again and drive all over europe to do shows. They hope to see you at one of their concerts.
Expect boy-girl vocals, nice prizes, a singing robot, wine-sharing, a wheel of fortune and songs that will make you smile.
