DNP Press Release : Etiku World’s follow up to the well-received Rhythms, Vol. 1 strengthens the label’s foothold in the techno world with four new tracks from three up-and-coming producers. With painstakingly intricate art from Dennis Donohue and design by Denis The7notes, Star Life/Aldalon’s jacket has an impressive look and feel.
The7notes wastes no time getting seriously deep on Life for Life, a multi-layered, melodic affair with a straightforward, driving rhythm section, lauded by Anthony “Shake†Shakir as his favorite track on the release. Etiku Dancer keeps the A-side’s vibe alive on Distant Star, a beautifully laid out, mesmerizing cut that waxes and wanes through a fulfilling six minutes.
Dataphon takes the B-side in a new direction, with two of his signature Arpanet-inspired pieces. He immediately sets a dark, brooding tone for Aldalon, with a synth backbone reminiscent of an ancient chant, and the track consistently builds on top of itself as secondary lines come and go. Abnyn starts you off wondering if it’s going to be suitable for a dance floor, but quickly proves itself worthy as the 303 enters the picture. Hard-edged stabs and dreamy pads compete for your attention in this end-to-end burner.
