About Me

Hello, A little about me. I'm a little hard to get at first, a lot of people think I'm arrogant or grumpy, I think it's cause I can be really quiet till I get to know you, but then sometimes you can't get me to shut up. I'm a really good person, and I think its mostly cause of where and how I was raised that I'm just a little miss understood, I was raised on a farm in mountains of Spokane, Washington. I spent most of my time as a kid alone, on my little adventures on the farm and in the wilderness. My imagination was my best friend and toy when I was growing up. I have 2 little brothers but they were six years younger then me so we were a bit too separated in age to play together till they got older. I was always kind of a loner, which is stranger now that I'm older cause I'm always surrounded by people all the time. I'm shy but outgoing. I'm the guy who stops to see if you need help when your on the side of the road with a broken car. Or the person who will take a half the day to cheer you up when things are not going so well in your world. In contrast I was a was a terrorist child who drove my parents absolutely crazy with my hyperactivity and lack of interest in school. I was the class clown who started food fights or slipped the top of the frogs cage so they would get out and make the girls scream. LOL I remember getting sent home from camp in the sixth grade for putting snakes in the girls cabins. Awww the good old days : ) Now I'm a little more behaved probably for a lack of creepy crawly things to scare girls with. When I was 13 the school thought I had some kind of mental handicap and that is what reflected on my bad grades or an inability to do homework and so on. They wanted to place me on the short bus so they did tests on me to prove I was dumb enough kick out of regular school. That back fired on them, I scored genius with an I.Q. of 138 averaged between 2 non biased test models. But that just made everybody more frustrated cause it proved I was just problematic not stupid : ) After I was done getting in as much trouble as i possibly could as a teenager going in and out of juvenile detention for being a run away and mischief maker. At 18 I found the rave scene in Cleveland, Ohio where I lived for a year. I started out as a Rave promoter and a DJ on my return to Seattle in the early 90s. I did that for 10 years and as the electronic underground scene started to fade in the late 90's I started to fall back on my Photoshop, Graphic Design and Printing abilities, I built while having to make flyers for my Raves. It started with doing brochures, business cards, magazine ads and pretty much whatever pulled in cash. And In 2002 I bought a camera to take on vacation and took some pictures on the beach, of my beautiful and patient, wife Chia. One of my clients saw the photos in a frame in my house and wanted to buy one of the shots so he could use it for a magazine ad in Ocean Drive. They paid $1500 for a picture and I thought, Hell I should take more pictures. Photography was a new challenge with so many things to learn and something I knew nothing about, so I loved it. Now Photography is all I do. Probably the best job in the world, second to the guy who gets to smash buildings with a wrecking ball everyday or push the big red button in the automotive crash testing facility. I get paid great money to hang out with interesting people from all over the world, travel first class to amazing places and boss everybody around and pretend like I know what I'm doing. My focus now is life is mostly my career. I plan on keeping Miami NYC and the Bahamas as my main locations to live and work. In the years to come I plan on settling down and creating a little monster child of my own, to bring some domestic distraction to my life, maybe build a small ranch in Montana with a ton of property so no one bothers me, as a escape home and a way to get away from my some what crazy life. I'm interested to see what comes next for me I would like to get both my pilots as well as Helicopter license and 100-ft vessel captains license. I think that would keep me busy for a bit after I get bored of Photography. But for right now Ill just be taking pictures and seeing where this little photography thing takes me, and let you know where I end up.You can check out my photography portfolio at www.sethbarlow.com Peace.
