Creating the feel for a song is as important laying down the time. Explore some of the sounds I have been a part of and let me know what you’re doing. For ON LINE STUDIO RECORDING details, please contact: [email protected] ----My earliest musical inspiration came from witnessing my fathers joy as he played guitar with different bands throughout my youth. As father-son relationships typically go, I gravitated to the drums rather than follow his desire for me to play guitar. Since then, my love of music has led me on a journey to work with some truly incredible and creative people in settings that I never would have imagined. Along this journey I have been inspired not only musically but spiritually as well, and I truly can’t wait for what’s next.

Influences: Anything from ARU to XTC, Meters to Radiohead, Scofield to Hendrix, Gang of Four to the Relentless 7. The last Wilco dvd is pretty amazing. Sean O'Rourke is def my favorite drummer these days. Of course Keith Moon and Ringo were the coolest guys to watch on those old music shows as a kid (along with the Jackson 5 cartoon). The first recording I ever owned was a Jackson 5 compilation. From that moment on, I became "hooked" on R&B and Soul music. Next came Chicago. Danny Seraphine's jazz background raised the bar in pop drumming. His phrases and feel were so lyrical to me. The first rock drummer to really turn my head inside out was Stewart Copeland. He turned the whole world of “rock” drumming upside down and reinvented the rules. Another direction was forged when I heard the song, “In Your Eyes”, by Peter Gabriel for the first time. Lyrically and musically, this song says so much more than meets the ear. This is the kind of song that every writer wishes they wrote, and Manu Katche’s drumming (especially live) was as powerful as the song itself. Then there's Dennis Chambers. What more can be said... Next I discovered David Garibaldi while listening to a raggedy old car radio in Savannah Ga. TOP's song “Soul Vaccination” was barely coming across the air, and I nearly had a wreck trying to dial in that groove. I was a bit too young when that whole Oakland funk scene was exploding, but I wasted no time catching up. From there, I discovered another Oakland drummer, Mike Clark who was doing a similar thing but in an improvisational setting. Seeing the Funky Meters drummer, Russell Batiste, was another mind blower. I also have to mention Jeff Sipe, who is one of the most creative and underrated drummers out there. Other notables include Matt Chamberlin, Kenny Arnoff, Zigaboo Modeliste, Tiki Fulwood, the 4 Steves (Gadd, Jordan, Smith, Ferrone), Chris Dave, JoJo Mayer, Jeremy Roberson, Sonny E. I've also had the pleasure of meeting Steve Pruitt and Ari Hoenig and having my ears stretched in a brand new way. My tastes are constantly changing and creating new influences literally every day!
