Szu-Yun Chiu

About Me

Szu-Yun Chiu. is a student of Qian Zhou in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore and plays on a c.1871 Giuseppe Baldantoni violin generously loaned by Mr. and Mrs. Rin Kei Mei. This season, Szu-Yun served as Assistant Concertmaster with the Conservatory Orchestra. She was also a finalist in Conservatory’s Strings Concerto Competition last year.


Szu-Yun has enjoyed success at several important competitions in Taiwan. In 2006, she won the second prize in National Music Competition and the first prize in Hsing Tian Kong Music Competition (Juvenile). In November, she was invited to perform Sarasate “Navarra” two violins concerto with the NTUA Symphony Orchestra. In 2001, she performed the Vivaldi Concerto “Autumn-Winter” with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2000, she performed the New Year Concert with the Si-Men Symphony Orchestra and in October performed a Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the orchestra.

Szu-Yun Chiu was born in Taipei. She graduated from Junior High School of National University and San-Chung Senior High School. She has taken part in numerous music camps in Taiwan, Austria, Australia, and studied with Professor Yehonatan Berick, Keng-Yuan Tseng, Nai-Yuan Hu, Prof. Dmitri Berlinsky, Prof. Kim. In addition, she was the concertmaster in San-Chung Symphony Orchestra and held two performances at the National Concert Hall in Taipei in 2006. Upon graduation in Taiwan, she received first place in the National Music Examination.
