Pianist Tan Qin Ying entered Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in 2004 with a full scholarship, the only Singaporean pianist to gain entry into the prestigious institution that year. She is currently under the guidance of Mr Albert Tiu, internationally acclaimed pianist.
Qin Ying has performed in various venues in Singapore like Victoria Concert Hall and The Art House. As an advocate for music outreach programs, she has performed concerts at schools throughout Singapore. She is also a frequent performer on the piano recital series in the conservatory. In summer of 2007, she participated in Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina and studied under Elizabeth Pridonoff and Donna Lee. Qin Ying has appeared in masterclasses with Dennis Lee, Eri Nagakawa, Ian Holtman, Michael Kennan and James Giles.
Tan Qin Ying started the piano from age 4. However, it was not till she was 19 before she decide to pursue music professionally. Before entering a professional music education, Qin Ying was a student leader in various arts groups in high school. She also served as an intern in Singapore Symphony Orchestra in 2004.
Qin Ying hopes to continue in her quest to reach out to people in society through teaching and performing.
