About Me

I used to sing and play the blues...but now I live in Kona.... "

~~MY WEBSITE: THE ULTIMATE WILLIAM CLARKE TRIBUTE SITE ~~ I originally built this website about 10 years ago, a year or so after Bill passed. It was intended to help keep his name out there and spread the word about just what a truely Great harp player, singer, bandleader, producer, blues performer he really was....and always will be. The text below is taken off my site...the site needs vamping and updating and brought up to speed...but then, so do I. If anyone who has the resourses and the time available would like to help "modernize" the site...I'd be so glad to hear from you. And I'm sure Bill would be smilin down on you too. The younger generation of blues artists and harp players are still just now finding out and hearing Bill's music...I think it will still be a long time before people find out and realize just how heavy a player and performer he really was. Rest In Peace, Brother Bill...Rest In Peace.....................................Every Once In A While... A Truly Gifted Talent In The Blues Rises To The Top...And Starts Receiving The Recognition That Is Due. In 1996, Alligator Records Released Bill's 4th CD For The Label, Rightfully Titled "The Hard Way"... For Me, It Was His Finest Release... Showing His Continuing Mastery & Willingness To Evolve & Experiment With Jazz & Blues...Tragically, For Us All, This Was To Be Bill's Last Work In The Studio... To Be Released While He Was Alive. William Clarke Died On Nov. 3, 1996 He Had A Total Of Ten LP's Or CD's Released Under His Own Name. Each One, In My Opinion, Shows His Strength, Greatness & Continuing Growth...I Was Very Fortunate Enough To Be Living A Few Short Miles From The Clarke Family For Quite A Few Years, And Became Pretty Close With Bill & Jeannette Over Those Years...I Could Go On & On & On About My Admiration & Respect For Bill.... As A Good Person, & A Great Musician. In My Book, He Was One Of The Very Greatest Players Of All Time. His Legacy Lives Through His Music..His Name Is Right Up There With Little Walter, Both Sonny Boy's, Walter Horton, Junior Wells, George Smith, & All The Great Legends Of Blues Harp! angelfire.com/blues/williamclarke/index.html
