Making amplifiers with simplicity in mind, we are able to capture the the purity of tone that gets lost with many amps. By the time your tone passes through two dozen knobs and switches, in the end it gets thinned out. Good tone is good tone and doesn't need to be "tweeked" by a bunch of features on the front. Handmade construction and point-to-point wiring enables great care and detail that you won't find from an assembly line of machines. Some of the big companies will choose what components they use based on bulk pricing or how they fit into the assembly machine, but Rumsey chooses them based on what will deliver the best tone for a particular amplifier. We also exclusively use Class A designs to give our amplifiers that dynamic "touch" that so many guitar players love. It give you a sense of being more connected with the amp, being able to get clean sounds with a soft touch or a crunchy growl with the whack of your pick on the same settings. Class A may lose a little power efficiency compared to Class AB, but would you rather have a lower wattage amp that you can crank to full volume to get that great tube saturation or a monster amp that you can only turn to 1?
