Chosen Substanceâ„¢ (Hellfire Machina)

Thomas Williams, aka Chosen Substance, was born in Caracas Venezuela in 1982, but moved to the UK at an early age. Conceived with a mission to produce influential music that raises the bar in the industry, Chosen Substance is a creative thinker and trusted adviser, which provides the foundation for an honest and forward thinking music creative, creating quality music that stands the test of time.
From day one, Chosen Substance was surrounded by music whether it be his families Latin influenced grooves…or in his later years with the heavy drum & bass sound systems of London in the early to mid nineties. A love for music in all its forms and diversity, music has always been an integral part of Chosen Substance's life.
After graduating from Keele university with a degree in electro-acoustic music, Chosen Substance organized, executed and promoted the university’s first drum and bass night ‘Junglist Movement’ in 2002, playing alongside such greats as LTJ Bukem, J-Majik & Adam F. At the same time, Chosen Substance started another successful night ‘Momentum’ playing alongside other notable special guests such as the Scratch Perverts & Dj Yoda.
Chosen Substance discovered the world of dubstep through FWD at Plastic People in Shoreditch, London. Having spent the past 10 years rinsing the drum & bass culture that London had to offer, Chosen Substance connected with the dubstep sound. He moved to New York and hooked up with Mechabot1 & Mikey FX, which in turn led to the formation of Hellfire Machina, the dubstep production crew that are tearing up dance-floors with their uniquely different production style.
Hellfire Machina have been turning heads since the projects inception last year. Sonic exploration in the realm of 140 bpm, with an ethos of non conformity, heavy bass and fierce attitude, the Hellfire Machina sound is exploding. Their productions have already been devastating dancefloors around the world which has led to a biweekly Dj residency in New York, numerous releases penned for the first part of 2009, not to mention a host of remixes that are currently being crafted in their studio 'Planet Twisted'.
As his sound continues to develop, only time will tell what new musical explorations he will venture on.
