Definition, a.k.a. Who are you? My name is Kylie Carrera, or should I say my drag name is Kylie Carrera. I am a transgender, an androgyne, a drag diva, a rock n' roll gender bender, a crossdresser (though I don't like that term). I am not performer/drag queen/impersonator. I am also not fulltime and that is just ok with me. I am comfortable to say I am a boy and I like to dress as a girl or in female attire because it is fun and it expresses a part of myself, and not my entire self. It began in childhood as a fun game of exploration and I still view it that way.
First and foremost I am an artist. Drag or whatever you wish to define this hobby gives me another avenue to explore my creative talents. My day job is in graphic design, a field I am deeply obsessed with. I have a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in design and enjoy photography, sketching and playing guitar. My love for art whether painting, sculpture, music or film is my life’s blood. Anytime I discover something new I consider it an accomplishment for my day. Also I have a love for animals (I have 3 cats) and intellectual conversation.
As for the transgender/drag community I have the deepest respect for those of us who live our dreams out loud. For those in transition I respect your honesty and bravery. For all drag queens and female impersonators, I respect your talent and creativity. And as for me I enjoy a night out on the town with friends or a creative photo shoot.
