Get your body ready for the best “Dance Experience†of the year, “Tribute to the 80’sâ€. First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to present this magnificent event to you once again. A tribute to an era when fashion, style and music were becoming reinvented, and “We†lived it! Sometimes, I like to think back to those days although; sometimes I keep those memories far. There are always bad times, but the good times were something to celebrate. And that is what this “Dance Experience†is about. The original old school DJ’s are some of the best “Mix Master DJ’s†in Chicago with a medley of music and nonstop dancing. These DJ’s have contributed many years to ensure that the 80’s era lives on. With their distinct styles and professional performances, they have competed in several DJ battles while always remembering their loyalty to Chicago. Martino “Spinning†Ramos, Lugo Rosado, Mike Suaz, Pablo “Punk Out Gunsâ€, all respectable and star DJ’s from the 80’s reclaiming fans every year! This Celebration is also a tribute to the faces in Chicago that played such a big role in our success by supporting all the old school dances. I would like to say “Thank You,†to all the dance groups of Chicago for all your spectacular performances and award winning honors. In recognition of the “Culito’s,†one of Chicago’s finest dance groups, led by Radar and Tin, known for their high energy and spectacular choreography. Thanks to, Jose Augustine, always known as a force to be reckoned with. The “Culito’s†were really a sight to see as they constantly worked hard to achieve the outstanding results of the many dance competitions that took place here in Chicago. “Imported Taste,†choreographed by Michael, was noted for their sophisticated, classy and jazzy style. And it is through “Imported Taste†which I owe thanks for meeting one of the funniest comedians and MC, Troy “Chocolate†Winston. An amazing character overflowing with talent, and to whom I enjoy the pleasure of knowing, he shines to make you smile. To Carlos, my assistant choreographer and friend, you are as passionate of a friend as you are to your art and it has always been a pleasure to work with you. A thanks also goes out to “A.K.A.†another incredible dance group, recognized for their astounding talent and original performances. Migdalia was not only a member of “A.K.A.†who attended practice and danced performances, but an amazing costume designer. And it is to her that we owe thanks for, not only making the dancers look good, but also helping them shine. In the late 70’s, “Allstar Production†was just on the rise as they bring with them some of the most memorable old school dances talked about today. Remember going out to the “Aragon Ballroomâ€, “Golden Tiara†and/or the “DaVinci Manorâ€? These were just a few of the venues that were the hottest places to go in Chicago back in the days. “Allstar Production†was one of the hottest dance promotions in Chicago. Lorenzo “Pinky†Sandoz, President of “Allstar Productionâ€, created a loud thunder in this era while promoting and organizing some the biggest and well known dances only experienced by those who partied during those times. Thanks also go out to all the old school dance promoters from “Pinky†to Tino Rojas to Murphy Julio, and many more. Thank you for starting it all up for us! And from that foundation became the ultimate “Allstar†dancers. A talented group of expressive dancers that took the form of dance and music from the Latino community and turned into art for all to enjoy. And it is because of these special dancers that I have matured into the artist and choreographer that I am today. It is at this time in which I would like to send a special thanks, once again, to the talented “Allstar†dancers for allowing me to express my art through you, through dance, and through choreography. It never seems like long ago, remembering the group fresh from the streets, stubborn and mischievous. Getting into trouble was routine, before they came to me and danced together as a group, keeping each other away from the dangers on the street and sticking together when it came to the gangs and violence. Which reminds me, “Once upon a time, there were some young boys and girls that were always assigned very tedious duties and chores from their parents, before even getting home from school, that needed to be done before going anywhere else; like cleaning their rooms and doing their homework. But for some, there was no stopping them; leaping out of back porches and bedroom windows, misbehaving and even breaking curfew. But, I took them away from all that, and now they dance with me.†The “Allstar’s†were more than a dance group to me, it was a support group, and we were like family. Thank You! And to all the supporters and fans of music, art and dance: believe in the power of art and defend it! Cherish the good times and keep the music strong! Join us and support those who choose to keep the 80’s jumpin’. “Be safe, be happy, be careful, be loved, be free, and never settle for less!†So, we are now pleased to invite you to this annual event, “An Allstar Dance Experience: Tribute to the 80’s. Is your body ready, again?†At-club mambo-3336-North-Milwaukee-Avenue in Chicago. And remember: “Dance, Live Life, Love It, Be Free.†Gringos Allstar productions [email protected]
