ABOUT “SET ME FREE†: Every film I have made has had a good luck charm. Well, actually, two. And that would be Tad Jacobs and Bobby Alt, whose songs have graced all my projects from DETROIT ROCK CITY to DRIFTWOOD. Fellow Jersey boys, Tad and Bobby have been in so many different bands both together and apart, I can hardly keep track (Their latest- and greatest- incarnation is The Supersonic Jets). Several years back as The Devil Roosevelt, they recorded 2 WAY RADIO, which has haunted me ever since. It proved perfect for this film. For the montage and end title song, SET ME FREE, this dynamic duo went from scratch to finished product in a mere three days. Working with legendary music producer Bill Cooper and Richie Podolor, Tad and Bobby conjured a song that could have been written by the film’s main character, David Forrester (Raviv Ullman). That it also speaks for Jonathan and Dean and even Captain Kennedy himself is the ultimate truth of the story: We are all driftwood- and we all want someone to set us free.
