About Me

..
.. Hello! My name is Neo. I am a 4 year old Black Lab/Rott mix. Do not be fooled by my markings. I am not a vicious dog like many people believe me to be. I love people and soak up positive attention like a sponge. However, I will defend my people.
I am creating this myspace to tell my story. In doing this I hope to break down the guards of many people who believe that animals are property and not part of the family. I am aware that there are stories like mine...but how many are out here on myspace? (come to find out...ALOT, which is very awesome!)
Three years ago My Mom and her best friend were traveling down Highway 7 near Mt. Rainier in WA state. They saw me on this busy highway where 18 wheel logging trucks are always traveling and traveling fast. I was dehydrated, hungry and I had a painful sore around my neck from an apparent imbedded collar. My Mom coaxed me into her car with chocolate chip cookies. I was very scared but also exhausted. I curled up in the floor board and went to sleep. My Mom and I had an immediate connection but she had the Humane Society come pick me up from her house. I was in the shelter on hold for 5 days in hopes my previous owner/s would step up so they could face charges of neglect. Of course they were cowards and didn't care about me.
The Vets at the shelter treated my wound, I was neutered and given a clean bill of health. I was now ready to go to a new home. I waited and waited and waited some more. My mom even stopped by and checked on me during my stay and the Pierce county shelter. She was told no one was inquiring about me and it was most likely due to my Rottweiller markings. I was flagged to be 'Humanely Euthanized'. My Mom told the shelter that she didn't rescue me to have me put down so she took me home. Now I am in a loving home, I am healthy, happy and very much loved...not to mention I am spoiled rotton.
I hope my story moves those of you reading this. If you see a stray or abused animal please offer help. Even if you just call the authorities. Any amount of love helps....who knows, you might get lucky like my Mom did. I am special afterall!
I wanted to come back and add a little bit to my story. I think it is a testament of how much my Mom loves me. In April of 2007 I became very sick. It started with vomiting, then really bad smelling flatulence. All of this leads up to blood in my stool, (very tar like) and in my vomit. The Vet did everything he could but really saw no hope for me. I had no energy, I didn’t greet anyone at the door, and I didn’t eat for 10 days. The Vet told my Mom to try some bland foods starting off with chicken broth. I drank a little of this. She then started giving me chicken and rice with peas and carrots. I started eating and perking up immediately. My color came back; I was bouncing around the yard and slowly got back to my old self. With weeks of trouble shooting my problem my Mom found my problem….I am allergic to dog food! Any time now that I sneak a piece of my sister’s cat food or another dogs food I will start vomiting. My Mom cooks for me now and I am healthier! I get yummy chicken livers, beef livers, ground beef, chicken, chicken hearts and all of this with brown rice and veggies. It’s YUMMY! Sometimes, I even get oatmeal and eggs for breakfast. :-)
Feed any animal and get a friend for life!
