Lo-Fi Lounge presents: THE MELANCHOLY MIC @ Monkey Club, Berlin
Every last Thursday of a month
The melancholy mic provides a geographical point in the city of Berlin, where musicians can present their new songs to a suspicious audience, on a regular basis, and pretend this was New York’s East Village several decades ago.
Oren Lavie is a Berlin based songwriter with a soft accent, curly hair and suspiciously cold feet. He has never been invited to attend a cool party in his life, let along host one. A misanthrope, clumsy dresser, introverted and badly spoken, he will be hosting the wonderfully experimental Melancholy Mic evening in Berlin.
The evening will consist of two parts.
Part One: Your host
Your host will play a lovely bouquet of songs from his album as well as a handful of new ones. He will invite special musician guests to play with, celebrity Berliners to sing harmonies to and wild animals to perform tricks on.

Part Two: The open mic
A spontaneous group of quite possibly talented performers will sing and play their material.
The stage will be open for anybody who’d want to perform. Such a person is kindly encouraged to register with his host in the beginning of the evening to ensure his place on stage. Such a person will be politely asked to play no more than two songs and no less than one.
