I moved to Crawfordsville, IN to be a sports writer for the Journal Review on Aug. 16, 2008. I moved to Lafayette, IN in October.
I am a media person. I've worked in TV and currently work in radio and newspaper.
I'm a huge sports nut. I am from Michigan, but have been a Red Sox fan since I was nine. The only Michigan-based team I follow is the Detroit Red Wings. I'm also a 49er fan, but damn, that hurts to say nowadays!
I grew up in the little berg of Marquette (pop. 15,000 or so) in "God's Country" (or as I call it, "Redneck North") aka, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I used to live in Saginaw (aka Sagnasty) from Oct of 2002 up til May of 06. I moved to the area after I got married to my wife, Raynae, who works at Saginaw Valley State University. I then lived in Munger (outside of Saginaw) for a little over two years before the move to Indiana.
I'm (technically) a 2001 grad of Northern Michigan University. I "failed" a class (thanks Louise!) and had to re-take it a year after I had already started my career. So I actually graduated twice (three times according to some, I heard they called my name during the winter ceremony also). Before that I was a dork that went to Marquette Senior High School and graduated from there in 1995.
I have been in TV/radio/newspaper since 1992, so over half of my life has been media related. It's a great job, if you don't want to make a lot of money and work horrible hours! But you get a lotta "perks" in sports, like free sporting events, free food (OK, so it's hot dogs and pizza, but it's free!) and you get to ask the athletes why they did what they did after the game.
