Voodoo Court (West)

About Me

Voodoo Court is an instrumental surf band that between September 2002 and May 2009 did not even play their instruments. They were formed by Mark Kuhn (guitar) in the early 90’s in Santa Rosa California, and remained a Sonoma County fixture (much like a leaky faucet) until the summer of 1999, when Mark moved to Florida and Bill Feller (drums) moved to the Central California coast. The band subsequently re-formed during the summers of 2000 – 2002 for mini-tours, alcohol consumption, and an occasional recording project; resulting in a catalogue of material that included three CDs (Electric Beach, Nuclear Vacation, and Nuclear Vacation: The Party’s Over), six compilation CDs, T-shits, bumper stickers, and the ever popular Voodoo Court novelty condom (Our attorney has asked us to express our sincere apologies to the people who tried using those condoms and the children they are raising). The band featured Go-Go dancers (wearing outfits designed by Debbie Kuhn - Mark’s wife), and many musicians over the years; including a revolving door of bass players (Uncle Mark Chait, Gerard Lock, Ryan Lewis, Chris Bradley, and Ace Montgomery: AKA Bones McCoy). Mark subsequently moved from Florida to Asheville, North Carolina, where he built “Anarchy Audio Studio”, which hosted VC in May 2009 as they reformed to record several new songs that will be produced as a CD very shortly. In the meantime, three of these new songs have been made available for online download at the itunes store and http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/voodoocourt.Be the first on your block to listen to the rockabilly style vocal “Gitmo a Go Go”, as VC casts off their traditional American surf roots to ride the crest of the new American tradition of waterboarding. Listen in glee to the Beach Boy style vocal of “Route 69” as VC takes you down a bumpy beach road of frayed bikini tops and cherry flavored Pez. And for those of you longing for the days of your youth, when you listened to instrumental surf while roasting chestnuts in front of the fireplace with Grandma, you can recapture those memories while listening to “Crossing the Border”, a song so profound, that INS officials have asked for the rights to use it as their theme song.
