It’s not often you get to experience intelligent pop music in today’s music charts especially from a group barely out of their teens. Breaking the trend are quirky 5-piece male rock-pop band,
The Special Ks.
The Special Ks formed whilst at music college in Brighton and quickly took the region by storm packing out local venues before heading around the UK spreading their sounds nationwide.
The Brighton based team behind the development of The Kooks spotted The Special Ks early on and booked them onto a nation wide school tour where the bands appeal to young pop-orientated fans proved a massive hit and their following really began to build.
Still selling out down south and now making waves nation wide, The Special Ks entered this years BREAKOUT FESTIVAL competition up against 3000 other budding acts and went on to win! First prize saw them perform at the festival in the Maldives this December, where the event was broadcast on MTV and webcast by AOL.
Having been voted winners by a panel of industry figures as well as public votes online, this year The Special Ks will also be embarking on a national UK tour at a number of O2 academy venues.
Currently the band are in the studio turning their demos into the records they have longed to create collaborating with producer Julian Simmons (The Guillemotts/Brinkman) to achieve a sound that more than competes with likes of today’s chart topping international pop acts.
These young men have a talent, energy and freshness which will take 2009 by storm.
