RUN DMC JMJ

...were one of the first groups to reflect the essence of the old school. There were a lot of groups out at the time that had been involved in hip hop a lot longer than RUN DMC, but the groups were not reflecting the culture on their records. Instead they were dressing in shinny outfits like rnb stars and singing raps on overly produced synthesized music beds (sound familiar?). The album "Raising Hell" by RUN DMC, was sucessful because it was one of the first records that truly represented the live aspect of Hip Hop by using live ruitines and records. The group also presented an image that represented how they daily lived and dressed which ran contridictorary to all the glitters and gold of the music industry.
