I was born in Hartford, Connecticut, where I almost learned to walk before moving to Boston and mastering it. Soon after that, my family moved again to Clearwater, Florida, where I learned to play Atari and built quite a nice He-Man collection.
I pretty much grew up in San Diego, having moved there when I was 6 and staying until I went away to college. I still think of it as my "hometown," and would love to end up back there one day.I went to UCLA, where I majored in English and Creative Writing, but spent most of my time working for UCLATV and UCLARadio. I had TV/Radio show 4 nights a week that aired live to dorm TV, "Getting it on with Matt and John." I also did the radio play-by-play for a number of UCLA sports. Basically, my time at UCLA was spent going from the Rose Bowl to Pauley Pavillion, stopping on the way to take finals and midterms.
After graduating from UCLA, I worked as a Field Marketing & Sales Manager for Feld Entertainment, traveling year-round with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's Circus and Disney On Ice (not as a performer).I tried my hand at screenwriting with a lot of enjoyment and little money to show for it. I'd love to get back into writing more in my future, but I was lucky to find a job that allows me some creativity and great experience. I work for ViSalus Sciences, a wellness company that makes the Vi-PAK, an advanced anti-aging and energy system. We just launched a new smart energy drink called neuro which came as a welcome fix to my diet coke addiction.
I also work in the same capacity for a sister company, PathConnect.com. We're a social networking site like MySpace geared more for people with goals.The fun part for me about that site is that I get to be the "Tom," greeting new members and meeting cool new people every day.
