Caroline CrawfordCaroline Crawford's debut album "Delphian" is currently in production at South City Records. The album is described by Caroline as being "a journey into the depths to confront the monsters that linger in the subconscious and affect our daily lives." The songs range widely in sound from haunting classical piano to intense alternative rock. "Each song is it's own entity. There are songs that lean towards classical and some that lean toward gothic rock and even some that have sounds from the middle east. Persephone's Blues for example. It is the only song on the album that taps into my Southern roots, so I wanted to have a little blues on the album. But it's blues done my way. I even got to play a Hammond organ on that song." "Delphian" uses a lot of imagery from mythology. "The album's story started to develop after feeling a block in writing. I was trying to tackle things in my present without learning where in my past they had developed. So I decided it was time to dive in and be submerged and let all those monsters of my past come at me. It's a scary thing. But you have to know how to look into your past, analyze it, and be both impervious to the negativity and open to learning from it. I started writing and I was getting images from mythology; the river Acheron, the rape of Persephone, among others things that could be used as pictoral symbols for feelings or people. I also started getting messages. I would hear the word "Delphian" in my mind over and over. I finally looked it up. I loved it's meaning and how odd it was that the word's etymology stems from the Oracle of Delphi in Greece.
