About Me

Musically Leroy was initially inspired, at the age of 7, after going to the Andre Crouch concert "Live In London", at the Hammersmith Odeon and seeing the great performers such as Billy Preston (Supporting Act) and also Andre's musicians. He also remembers going to different concerts around this time with his mum, notably to see "The Heavenly Hopes". This led Leroy, to start experimenting with different musical instruments, starting with the classical guitar and then venturing on to the drums, where he took drum lessons. He started to play the Bass Guitar at the age of 14, at which time he stopped playing the drums to concentrate on the Bass. His first Bass Guitar was a Westone 2A 4 string. During school, Leroy along with some friends formed a reggae band, playing "Lovers Rock" (he was the Bass Guitarist) - the band was called the "Young Lovers" and they enjoyed local success, gigging at open air concerts and clubs. After 6 years, the band disbanded and Leroy joined the "Brixton Young Entertainers", who were a backing band for local talented singers. Shortly after, Leroy joined an up and coming R'n'B band by the name of "Focus", who also recorded various tracks including one with Michael White (drummer at the time for Frankie Beverley and Maze). During this time he began to meet some of the big names in the industry (e.g. members of Earth, Wind & Fire, who invited him to come to their "Touch The World" tour in 1988 in England and France, free of charge with backstage passes). Then he got saved.Since being in the church, Leroy has played with the following Gospel Artists: Helen Baylor (live on stage), Ron Kenoly (Studio), Matt Redmond (Studio), Graham Kendricks (live on stage), Chevelle Franklyn (live on stage), Noel Robinson & Nu Image (Live On Stage, Studio and on Albums "Worthy In This Place" & "Garment Of Praise" ), Churchboyz ( Album "Part 2" (to be released shortly)), Mike Parlett (Album "Waiting On You" ), Bishop Wayne Malcolm's Album "The Business Of Life", Bishop John Francis (live on stage, album "Welcome In This Place" and every Sunday at Ruach Ministries, 122 Brixton Hill, London UK), as the main Bass Guitarist for the past 17 years.Leroy has also been a supporting Conference Bass Guitarist for: Bishop TD Jakes, Juanita Bynum and Morris Cerrullo. Secular Field: Horace Andy and Beverley Knight (Album "Prodigal Sista"). plus other artists...
