Young J tha kid, born Jordan Highgate is a hip hop artist who is beginning to find his place in the rap game. As the founder of One-Third Entertainment, Young J is the manager of all operations from recruiting additional artists to the label to t-shirt sales. Trying to collect the remainder of his high school credits has him currently attending Oakwood Collegiate Institute. At the age of 17, he has already been through it all.A majority of his life spent growing up in the streets of Toronto, and Southside Etobicoke. Facing economic hardship and harsh living situations at times, forced this young artist to mature mentally at a quicker rate then most. With a past mainly focused on basketball, music became a new addition to his life. He quickly fell in love with the creativity and freedom of speech that came along with rapping. In the end of November of 2004, he began recording at home with a cheap microphone and broken headphones. Since then he has recorded at a couple studios, one being the very well known I.C Visions studio. He still does a large percentage of his recordings at home. Young Js music is a mixture of street talk and the pain and struggles that one experiences in life.
