About Me

* The ManSfiso Thulani Milton Mdakane was born 1981 in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Nquthu, South Africa in a small traditional Zulu village, Isandlwana. His passion for music was uncovered during his first year of school. During his high school career he became involved in various singing groups of various genres. The first group he performed in was called Ubuhle BeSandlwana which contained 14 members. In 2000 they won a recording deal but the deal fell through as the group members were separated when they finished school, they had to go to the cities to get jobs.In JHB, Thulani attended Commatec Commercial Academic College where he studied Business Management. At the same time he worked as a sales representative and he sold cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. In the beginning of 2004 he underwent training at Different Security Training Centre and finished his grade-C.November, 2004, he got a job as a machine operator at Total Resources where they produced stationary products. In mid 2005 the factory closed down and he started working as a professional security guard at various companies, he continued to do this for two years.*The MusicThe year 2002, he joined the BBK gospel choir in Zonkizizwe and performed with them until 2006.In 2003 he already started to write his own songs and recorded a two track demo disc at Rich Sound Studios in JHB. (Your Eyes / What Kind of Love is This?) With these two songs he collected his first Award. At the ceremony he also performed accapella versions of You Stay Blessed and Your Eyes.In December 2004 he met songwriter / producer, Christo Barnard. They composed and arranged three demo songs, Can You Tell Me?, Africa and You Stay Blessed. With merely these demo backtracks, he raked in his second and third Awards for best new coming R&B artist. In mid 2005 they came up with the concept for an album, and started work on it immediately. The backbones for two songs for the album were at hand, namely Can You Tell Me? And You Stay Blessed. Africa was voted out and stored in future releases. They wrote, composed and arranged six brand-new songs to go with the other two.Thulani’s overall sound started changing and progressing during the production stages. Most of the music and lyrics were experimental and not forced. They created INGOMA.In June 2007, they recorded and mixed the vocals at Uninfected Independent Studios in Wadeville, finally. The album was completed in three years time with a production team of 2 people. The album features eight smash – hymns with two guest appearances. Lantana performed the female vocals on So Far, So Good and Tommy Barnard the guitars on You Stay Blessed. The album is till in search of a publication and distribution deal. There are reports that they are planning to sell the album Independently. (Street sales, low cost – marketing, and the plausible wonder of Internet)Since October, 2007, his music has been available on MySpace.
