About Me

Bernadette Amansure a.k.a Burni Aman is one of South Africa's foremost hip hop and spoken word artists. She started her career with a group called special fx in 1996. In 1999 she became apart of a studio project entitled Reality Assylum with well known capetonian artists. The project saw capetonian emcees flipping over jungle beats and was and still is the only project of its kind in cape town.She is also a member of the all female hip hop trio Godessa, who were nominated for a Metro FM award shortly after the release of their debut album Spillage. Burni has performed extensively with Godessa and as a solo artist in various European countries, Cuba as well as the USA where she awed audiences with her powerful performances. She is one of the co-ordinators of Rogue State Alliance, a swss/south african collective established in 2004. The first album Rogue State of Mind is available in South Africa and Switzerland.Over the past three years she has been involved in a variety of industrial theatre pieces through a company called fusionworx. She has also been involved in various youth initiated workshops aimed at the uplifment of the disadvantaged teens.Her musical career as a member of Godessa and as a solo artist has allowed her to perform at international festivals, clubs, universities, poetry festivals/events, community gigs, ngo's, television and of course park jams.Modus Operandi is Burni Aman's solo debut album and will be available soon.
