--------SYD BARRETT 6 January 1946 – 7 July 2006 - Wikipedia referrence - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syd_Barrett---------Syd has had the largest inspirational impact on me than any other artist of any genre. There was a time in my life where it was simply ALL about Pink Floyd. But Syd alone over time has become my personal preferrence to any Pink Floyd tune. His story telling andgenius sense of songwriting inspired me to write poetry and (to a small degree) play some instruments. Now what makes the story of Syd Barrett so interesting is the lack of clarity regarding his behaviour and seclusion. The majority of fans that you speak with will simply say that Syd went insane do to LSD abuse or that he was, in fact, schizophrenic. In the rare bootleg Syd Barret book called "Fish out of Water" his sister insists during the course of the interview that he was not diagnosed as a schizophrenic. Though there are other mental conditions that were considered suspect for his behaviour such as Asperger syndrome and bipolar. Syd released 3 solo albums that are the most frequently played albums i own. The Madcap Laughs, Barrett, and the unpublished stuff Opel. I recommend this one... As a birthday gift about 6 years ago my wife got me an autographed napkin off of ebay with Syd's signature on it. A pretty penny was paid but i have no way to verify if this signature is legit or not. The seller said that it was the second autograph of his they found in a collection of their daughters stuff they were cleaning out. Who knows? Here is a video from 1968 of Syd doing his very last song with the Floyd, Jugband Blues. One of my favourite Floyd tunes of all time. Syd, by this time, was aware of the decay that he was falling into and captured that awareness in this song with lines such as "I wonder who could be writing this song", and "i'm most obliged to you for making it clear that i'm not here" and my personal syd barret quote of all time..."what exactly is a dream, and what exactly is a joke"...------NOBUO UEMATSU March 21, 1959- Wikipedia referrence -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobuo_uematsu------ Inspirationally this guy comes in second to Syd. He is Nobuo Uematsu and WAS the Final Fantasy music score composer. He has worked on several other games aside from the FF series but I know him only from the FF series. The music this man makes is really just unbelievable. What really backs this statement up is the soundtrack to Final Fantasy 6.. Here is an orchestra performing the main title to Final Fantasy 7. Simply beautiful. Not only is the music insanely timeless and epic but its attached to my favourite game of all time! Every FF fan has a FF title that they hold the most dear and this one is mine! More on this title later...
