I am Professor of Classics at Bologna University, Italy, and am particularly interested in the persistence of Greek Myth in contemporary culture (especially in cinema and music).
Among the initiatives of our research team, I would mention the multimedia interpretation of Cesare Pavese's Dialoghi con Leucò ,
which was first staged in Ravenna, on January 18, 2006, by the Venetian company "Krisis", under the direction of Bibi Bozzato .
In my opinion, the idea that Greek and Hellenistic-Roman antiquity left us of its own structural elements - the myth in particular, is that of an ‘open work’ that constantly undergoes new readings, interpretations, and transformations – a sort of work in progress, which has continued throughout the centuries and has recently started using the new media of today’s technological society.
Last year, together with our team, I have activated a postgraduate course in "Multimedia Communication of Cultural Heritage" at the Faculty of Preservation of Cultural Heritage (Ravenna Campus). The course is currently at its second edtion.
The next initiative will be A SUMMER SCHOOL (for University students and graduates from all rhe world) about CINEMA, SHOWS, MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION, and will take place in FORTE DEI MARMI (Italy) on June 24-30 2009.
This school will represent an insight into modern arts and media, syntethized in 30 hours of frontal lessons and supplied with practical application and workshops. Languages: Italian and English.
