About Me

The Canton Mudders are San Diego’s number one (and possibly only) Sci-Fi Folk/Rock band. The band features, singer/songwriter Mark Kramer and Ryan Birdy on the snare drum. These two local wackos have been playing off and on since they met and formed the band “Café Bela” back in 1995. Along with occasional members Sara Vallire, Tim Core (both back-up vocals) and Adam Jones (on harmonica). The latest addition to the band is Mark Haemmerle on bass & harmonica, Kramer & Haemmerle have been in many projects & recorded many songs together over the years including the punk band shrivel factor, the witness rejection program & starcrossed.
This odd group have been playing the local open mic and bar circuit (as a band as well as soloists) for the past five years, spreading their musical message…cheer the hell up and have some fun! Despite their occasional ballad, nobodies perfect. With influences anywhere from Johnny Cash and the Violent Femmes to Star Wars and Joss Whedon TV shows, the Canton Mudders guarantee a good time with these musical mix of Folk-Rock-Ska-Country-and the 80’s influenced songs and covers, which include covers of the Violent Femmes, Bon Jovi, The Rugburns, the Proclaimers, and even a Blue Grass version of Prince’s “Purple Rain”. And just like the Violent Femmes…the Canton Mudders…they bring all their equipment on the bus!
