SCRAWNY JOHNNIE formed toward the end of 2006.The original lineup featured
"Ty-stick" on drums, who didn't have the stamina to finish the songs (I can
only imagine his poor girlfriend's frustration). He was quickly replaced with a solid punk-rock/reggae style drummer by the name of Jeff Cooper. "Coop"s
style fit right in and the band never missed a beat.
SCRAWNY JOHNNIE started as a two-guitar band. We had just finished our second live show and were considering the addition of a keyboardist as a fifth player, when the sudden departure of lead guitarist, "Crazy Dv" left us pondering the bands future. But after the very first meeting with keyboard/piano player "Ramp" Ryan Witosky, it became clear that the band was not done, it was just going to take a different direction.
Since then, the band has played 4 shows, including an awesome show at
the world-famous Derby! We still play some of the songs that we adapted from the old set, plus some new songs that match the bands current format. The band is held together by veteran bassist "dROM", who you might know from the internationally renowned SKADADDY'Z. Come fall 2007, the band plans to market itself thru the use of music videos and internet radio, and will take the next several months to produce (in conjunction with Blackhole Studios Los Angeles), SCRAWNYJOHNNIE TV, hosted by S.J. frontman John Powers, and will feature the valley's finest talent, plus possible celeb guest. Look for the band to come out strong at the beginning of 2008 with a possible addition to the lineup, a few new tunes, and a calander full of shows! Peace- btw, does anyone know a good guitarist?
