So here's the story: Way back in 1936 the circus train was coming through town and wrecked in front of the old mill. Now, this wasn't any ordinary circus. The circus was a complete freak show, and the circus clowns and freaks had nowhere else to go, except to join up with this insane band of misfits. When the train wrecked, it slammed into a toxic waste dump, so the freaks just got freakier. With nowhere to go, they tormented the town, until one by one they all passed on to meet their maker. Now, each October their souls come back to possess our merry band of pranksters so they can help us give you the scare of your lives. We're livin' the scream!
And, this is the truth: We bought this building 4 1/2 years ago, and yeah, we know it looks real spooky, and the first time we saw the place we thought it would make a great haunted house. Well, we worked on the place for a few months, and many nights when we were there alone we would hear a lot of strange sounds coming from upstairs. We were pretty spooked, but we learned to live with it. In one corner of the first floor, we have seen shadows moving and heard mumbled voices, and many people felt cold and uncomfortable in that spot. There have also been instances where the lights or stereo had been left on or off, and when we returned, they were switched, when we knew they couldn't be. Many of our actors come to help set up the haunted house, but they don't like being there late, and they won't be there alone. In one instance, one of the guys turned out all of the lights, and immediately there were all kinds of noises. He couldn't get out fast enough, and now he can't stand to be there alone. We're not sure what is going on, or what may have happened there, but something is deffinately going on.
One of the more interesting things that have happened is that a number of people have told us that when this was the ABC book barn and there were a lot of vendors with spots in the building, they would continually report that their items had been rearranged while they were gone during the week, when the building had been locked up tight all week.
Paranormal Researchers of Scranton - UPDATE - 10/8/08 P.R.O..S. arrived around 2:30 AM on Sunday and investigated until dawn. Jim Webber and his team set up their equipment and then explored the entire 13,000 square foot structure. We were told the freshly charged video camera battery discharged in about 15 minutes, and one group of 3 investigators reported all simultaneously having the same distinct sensation of someone walking directly behind them and being in their presence. However, the sound conditions in the building were not well suited for their testing equipment, and the testing was inconclusive. The P.R.O.S. team will return in January to continue their investigation. Many thanks to Jim and his crew for coming down to investigate.
