MenO is a musical project conceived many years ago when Andres Mena started crafting his first songs as a teenager. He simply enjoyed putting his feelings and thoughts onto paper and adding music to it.
Surrounded by a musical environment since the day they was born, it seemed only natural to Andres and his brothers to pick up an instrument and start making music. When Andres Parents became aware this they quickly enrolled them in music conservatory as well as private guitar and piano lessons.
As time went by and the Mena Brothers became better at their instruments, they joined several musical projects, such as starting and joining different bands, and playing for Ecuadorian local artists.
Andres decided to move to the U.S in 2002 to look for new opportunities, first in L.A then Miami, and finally settled in Phoenix Arizona.
Somewhere back in 2004 Andres decided his writings and melodies should be heard by others and started visiting open mics and venues in the Phoenix Arizona music scene where he found acceptance of his music, and met incredible musicians that helped shape his instrument and songwriting skills.
Additionally through the internet he started sharing his music with others and found more places for his music to be heard.
Encouraged by the acceptance of his music to new fans and old friends, Andres finally decided to reunite with his brothers in Miami and make the project bigger
Together the Mena brothers wrote, arranged, recorded and produced several tracks, and selected the material for the first MenO album that mainly includes songs about Andres' live and experiences while living in Phoenix.
While visiting open mics and gigging in South Florida the Mena brothers met Ritchie Cintron an drummer with a Jazz background that perfectly fit the style of music of MenO.
MenO is now performing in South Florida as well as writing and recording material for the second album, which is very promising.
To define MenO's music we would say, it is singer/songwriter music, combined with the Rock/Fusion Influenced guitar playing of Jose and Pechiche, and the jazz influenced drumming of Ritchie Cintron.
"I am very happy with the new material we are creating, it is like taking all these musical ideas and genres and combining them into one thing, overall I guess it is rock, but we do not think of it as rock music, but rather something wider, I wish I could define it."
