About Me
BAD TEETH,BAD TATTOOS,FOOT FUNGUS,DIAGNOSED WITH TURRETS,AND A KICK THAT WILL SEND YOU DOWN 3 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS............The alternative press and Radio Council
(NOTE: address change to c/o See Hear, 59
E 7th ST., NY NY 10009) pulled off a
benefit Jan 19, without a hitch . Six bands at
CB's in S hours . The order of appearance
was determined by lot--A revolutionary
statement--and not advertised anywhere ; the
bands were informed 3 days before the show.
It worked, as the club was crowded from the
start, no doubt setting a new record for
attendance shortly after opening the door.
None of us had ever put on a show before,
but the bands knew their shit and the average
time between sets was an incredible 14
minutes.
Playing were 76% UNCERTAIN and
CHRONIC DISORDER, from CT, SAND IN
THE FACE from NJ, and FALSE
PROPHETS, STISISM and KILLDOZER
from NYC ; the show was recorded for an
APRC compilation and provided the funds to
set a number of projects in motions . Lots of
zines were sold, flyers distributed, "critics'
choice" bands exposed to a large audience,
and the atmosphere inside the club was very
friendly.
BRING BACK STRAIGHT EDGE
Outside, however, the story was
different ; I've had 4 different fights reported
to me as taking place outside the club . Being
show coordinator, I missed them all, but
three editors gave me accounts based on what
they saw. Apparently someone got their
thumb bit off in one fight ; all the other

(Earwax) with unidentified friend.
incidents involved skins, mostly from out of
town . Mick and Elroy from NY were said to
have picked one fight ; Bags (from S .F .)
picked another fight but ended up
outnumbered in what was described as an
inter-skin affair . The most serious incident
involved Frank from Jersey, who was
described as very drunk or "acting dusted"
and going around trying to get a fight started
until he found a long-haired dude who
answered him back, whereupon the hapless
fellow was "pulverized" by a group of people
including Tony from ULTRAVIOLENCE,
according to the witnesses . This happened
just after the show ended, and seems to have
included a stabbing with a knife or scissors,
cutting with a broken bottle, and very vicious
kicking of the victim while he was down and
bleeding.
In all these incidents, there were many
bystanders and nobody did anything to break
them up . And of course everyone will
complain if the cops start chasing everyone
away from the club, or send plainclothesmen
to the shows. Ironically, fighting had
dropped off markedly the 2nd half of 1985.
