About Me

THE PRINCESS PROJECT "The Princess Project"; a cd full of beautiful and intimate songs written by Karel Boehlee (pianist/composer) and Simone Pormes (vocalist/composer). The project consist 16 songs, whereby 9 have been recorded on the first cd.Karel Boehlee has built up an impecable reputation during his many performances with both national and international jazzmusicians. Woody Shaw, Wynton Marsalis and Ernie Watts are just a few of the many colleagues he has worked with over the years. He also performs regularly with Jean "Toots" Thielemans ( who is featured on this cd aswell) at various European- and Japanese Jazz venues and festivals.Simone Pormes is an especially talented songwriter. She has worked under contract by EMI, written the music for the feature film "Angie" and occasionally writes songs for various performers in Holland. Her songs are of a deeply personal nature and are uncompromised in their honesty and clarity. Besides songwriting, Simone has established herself as a much sought after professional vocalist. Also to be heard on this album is the extremely talented vocalist Lo van Gorp, and the tracks he sings are especially composed for him. Lo is one of the most frequently requested session musicians and backing vocalists in the Netherlands. This last year alone he could be heard on numerous major releases and has toured extensively with various top acts in the country.
