Janice Barnett is a vibrant beautiful woman with an amazing powerful voice. This petite former beauty queen has surprised many audiences across the nation with her astounding vocal abilities. She has an enthusiasm that is totally infectious and absolutely true.Janice was the opening act for WAR, PATTI PAGE, TINA TURNER,REDD FOXX,BILL FOXX,MICKEY MOUSE AND ETC.She eventually moved to Los Angeles, California, where she met Richard Pryor. Richard heard her /she became his protege! Joe Hubbard of Maverick Flats became her manager and the rest is history. Before there was Susan Depasse there was HARVEY FUQUA OF THE MOONGLOWS who discovered Marvin Gaye, The Spinners,Etta James & Janice. HARVEY produced JANICE on Fantasy Records, which became a treasured collector's item with beach music fanatics. Her tunes are also featured on some of the best of collector's sets, including the ever so popular " I Told You So" on Ripete Records Beach Beat Volume IV.Janice toured with tokyo with WAR and Pattie Page was highly successful. At Geneva, Switzerland, she performed for Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia and his court on a regular basis. She performed at Lake Tahoe, Reno to standing ovations nightly, appeared on The Dinah Show with Redd Foxx, and opened for Bill Cosby at the Hilton hotel in Las Vegas, under the guidance of NBC Television producer Scoey Mitchell who became her manager.A guest appearance on THE REDD FOXX SHOW, resulted in a 13 weeks run at the Hilton hotel. She was cast in the play "Selma" which is about the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., playing the role of Rosa Parks. JANICE recorded the sound track for Atlantic Records entitled "SELMA". Never leaving her roots for Gospel music, she also performed for sold out crowds of 50,000 people at a time with gospel greats such as Shirley Ceasar, Leon Petilo, and Petra. She was a headliner at both DisneyLand and DisneyWorld for 10 years.Janice was nominated FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR at the Beach Music Awards,& inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1995 as THE QUEEN OF BEACH MUSIC. In 1996, she won again for DUO OF THE YEAR along with Billy Scott of the Georgia Prophets (MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR) They recorded a duet entitled "SOMETHING ABOUT YOU BABY I LIKE", which became a beach hit single resulting in 22 weeks at the top of the Beach Music charts in 1995.Ripete Records released the album entitled JANICE in 2000. It Ain't No Way" reigned on the People's Choice as 1 on the chart. Bring Back That Loving Feeling duet by Maurice Williams and Janice was at 8 for that week. The Rythmn and Beach Chart the album "Janice" was rated 9 best album --all duets of JANICE with Billy Scott, Maurice Williams, Harvey Fugua of the Moonglows, William Guest of Gladys Knight and the Pips, and Dink Perry.Janice begin her journey under Pastor E.V.Hill. She later joined West Angeles Church of God and served for many years under Bishop Charles Blake. Janice's Pastors over the years include Father Vernon & Barbara Moore ---Rev. When asked how did she have so many pastors, Janice answered, "I was a professional entertainer who traveled 300 days a year. I was blessed to have so many great pastors all over the world. I guess I had a lot to learn in so little time.
