Dominic Teresi

About Me

A native of California, Dominic Teresi is in his eighth season as principal bassoon with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra with whom he records and tours worldwide. In demand on dulcian and baroque, classical and modern bassoons, Dominic has worked with many of the world's prominent early music ensembles including Le Concert d’Astrée, Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra, Quicksilver, Philharmonia Baroque, Spiritus Collective, Toronto Consort, Ensemble Arion and Apollo’s Fire among others. He has recorded numerous CDs with Tafelmusik and is a featured soloist on their Concerti Virtuosi CD, nominated for a 2006 Juno award. Other recent CD releases include Sweet Desire, a compelling collection of 17th-century music with Chatham Baroque. Dominic is a newly appointed faculty member at the Juilliard School and the University of Toronto. He also teaches at Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute and Amherst Early Music Festival and has given masterclasses at Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Wisconsin at Madison and Puerto Rico Conservatory. He holds a master of music degree and an artist diploma in modern bassoon from Yale University, a medaille d'or from the Conservatoire National de Region in Bordeaux, France, and is a doctoral candidate at Indiana University. He lives in Toronto with his wife, Sharon D'Cunha, and their two young children, David and Mira.
