After recognizing the digital information realm’s blanketing effect on print/media arts, Currents Magazine was born to bring back the appeal of having a physical reminder of the moments going on in and around the North American independent and underground music scenes. While Currents highlights artists in much the same manner as mainstream publications do, the magazine’s dynamic is unique. New bands are featured alongside well-known bands to eliminate segregation and plenty of room is alloted for stories about outstanding causes/fundraisers/companies/organizations that have positively impacted their surrounding communities. The main priority of the DIY publication is to encourage individuals to become active citizens in their art communities, to positively highlight the individuals that already are, to bridge the gap between bands/fans/promoters alike by giving all the opportunity to contribute, and to promote and provoke all within our reach. We’re always looking for new stories to tell and new perspectives to shine through on our pages, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. And most of all, never stop dreaming…
